Love me, if that's what you wanna do.

Finally, winter break has started and now's the time to relax and go ice skating (unless you actually need to do some last minute Christmas shopping. Yikes). This week was pretty hectic. I surprised my mom a few days ago for her birthday by coming home early after finals week! I think that was the best surprise I've ever done when I showed up to her front door at 9pm that night. She screamed of joy.
A few days later, my friend and I headed back to Portland to watch the wonderful band I've grown to love so much; The 1975.
I wore a fluffy faux fur coat, a mesh sleeved top, topshop jeans, and my zara glitter boots to the venue. It was quite cold outside when we waited in line, but my coat was super comfy and kept me warm the whole time, unlike my glitter boots, however.
Now, lets talk about the band. The 1975 is a group you MUST see live. Not only is it super intriguing with the fog and the elaborate backdrops of rainbow lights, but the band themselves made the atmosphere spectacular.
The show started off with a song from their new album called 'Love Me,' along with some of their older songs like 'Heart Out' and 'Settle Down.' We also got the amazing pleasure to be the first crowd to listen to their newest song on their album called 'Change of Heart.' This is probably one of my favorite songs of theirs at the moment.
At one point of the show, Matty asked everyone to put their phones away so he could see everyone's faces and have that band-to-audience connection that they've been striving for. Surprisingly, everyone listened and set their phones in their pockets. It was a "proper 90's gig," So Matty claimed.
At the end, the crowd began chanting "We want Sex, We want Sex" and it was the most incredible thing I've ever heard. Luckily the band came back on and performed the song we all wanted, which earned a loud and satisfied cheer from the audience.
If you ever get the chance to see The 1975 (which I highly recommend you do), then be prepared to get up close with the people around you. Forget about the existence of personal space. Wow.
It's definitely an amazing experience to see them live and hear the instruments rattle your bones. I'll definitely be getting tickets for the next show in April!

Polyvore X FashionNxt: Day 3 recap (Mondo Guerra)

It was the final day of PFW and the shows were magical, as always. Tonight's event had a different feel to it amongst the rest. Not only because it was the last show of the night, but there were twice as many people to come see the designers this time, even though there were only three men showcasing their collections.
The show started off with the director of Portland Fashion Week who came onstage to give a short, meaningful speech. He took a special moment to pay tribute to Roseberg after last week's tragic event. After holding hands with one another and taking a moment of silence, the show began.

The first designer to show his piece (and the one I chose to cover) was Mondo Guerra. His collection was one of the most beautifulest pieces I've ever seen! Going for a white out theme, his spring collection captivated the audience with rounded silver sunnies, classic white straw hats, and rainbow sandals. It was like you were a bird gliding up through the clouds in the sky. To add even more edge, Guerra had the models strut in long, mesh fabric with triangle rings. It was definitely the brightest show of the night. Guerro has a unique eye for texture, silhouettes, and timeless style.
The rest of the show consisted of Viktor Luna's metallic, space-like collection, and Seth Aaron's London themed looks. At the end, all the models came out walking to the catchy beat of Lorde. A perfect way to end this year's show! Until next year! Xx-Nikka

Polyvore X FashionNxt: Day 2 recap

Tonight's shows were stunningly colorful and bright with patterns, but the designer that took every person's breath away tonight was Walter Mendez's 2016 spring collection.
In the dark blue gloom before the show had officially started, Walter emerged on the runway with his working partner, Ryan Patros to talk a little bit about this particular collection. He talked about the lovely city of Portland and how excited he was to be here, but surprisingly enough, he told us we were the first crowd to see his new spring collection!

The collection consisted main spring colors of light purple, pink, green, gold, and white. It was somewhat like a color wheel of sorts; with each gown that the model showed off, the colors would slowly change in an elegant manner. Walters collection was enchanting.

I got the chance to interview Walter in the VIP section after the show. Here's what I asked:

-Where did he get the inspiration to create these glamorous designs?

He got the idea while he was in Hawaii. He was in a plane overlooking the area and got inspired by Hawaiis bright and beautiful view. He got drawn to the tropical colors of ocean blue and palm tree green, which was involved a lot in his clothes.

-If he could collaborate with any designer in the world, who would it be and why?

Walter and Ryan both agreed that they would've loved to work with Alexander McQueen while he was still around. Who couldn't agree more? He was the most gifted, revolutionary, and legendary fashion designer of our time!

Walter has recently worked with Selena Gomez for her UK tour, along with his other clothing seen on many celebrities such as Jesse McCartney, Brooke Burke (from Dancing with the Stars), Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars), and Avan Jogia!

Needless to say, the clothes and patterns he chose to muster as a representation of the brightly, wonderstruck archetype that he is trying to showcase were all flawlessly assembled.

Polyvore X FashionNxt: Day 2

Shop my look up here:

Happy Friday! Today is my second day of attending the FashionNXT 2015 show here in Portland! Last night was so much fun. My friend and I got VIP passes and got to talk with some of the other participants of the show. Not only was everyone kind, but very friendly and helpful as well! I can't wait for tonight's show. Today I'm wearing an H&M cape, Topshop dungarees, vintage boots, and my new Chanel bag! Keep a look out for new posts as the night progresses! xx-Nikka

Polyvore X FashionNxt: Day 1 recap

Devonation's fall collection was one of the most unique shows of the night with a fresh, clean cut look that swirled minimalism and elegant fall together. It was truly something that struck the crowd with awe and mystery.

A common trend that I saw within this collection (and for the whole show tonight), were sheer dresses and tops, along with lace decor to give it a playful edge.
I was lucky enough to get an inside scoop from the designer himself, Devon Yan to discuss his personal goals that he achieved with this show.

-What inspired him to make these types of designs for his fall collection?

It turns out he named the collection 'Supernatural.' He was walking down the street coming back home one day and he took in his surroundings: the leaves were changing colors, the cold wind was blowing, and the sun was going down. He got inspired by the weather and the cold air that was itching it's way into the warm atmosphere, so that's why he decided to have a minimalism theme for this year's show.

-How did he decide what material to use when creating his outfits?

Devon tries to draw sketches and gain some concept of what his theme is all about. It's a fall collection so he decided to use darker colors along with thicker pieces for outerwear like wool. He also loves sequins and chiffon, which was definitely incorporated within his clothes.

-What's his favorite part about being a fashion designer?

He thinks of himself more of an artist rather than a designer. Art has a type of exquisite feel that he tries to express in his clothing. He draws a lot of amazing ideas from his imagination and feelings throughout the day and brings it to life down the road.

Denim skirts xx LucLuc

As some of you may have noticed, I've been creating some collections of different sets involving a variety of pieces by the online store, Lucluc.com! I've been working with them for several months now and I'm so happy that they sent me a few pieces to add to my wardrobe.
Button up skirts are very versatile. This lucluc denim skirt is perfect for any season! You can style it with a turtle neck for the fall, a striped tee for the spring, and a simple black crop top for the summer! Not only are denim skirts an essential staple for any girl's wardrobe, but they can make you look casual and polished at the same time.

Stripes and Rompers (Oasap and Nikkas-wardrobe)

Finally! A day off from work. During my one free day of the week, I couldn't pass up going outside to enjoy the wonderful summer weather.
Rompers have been a big trend this year, and with my recent collaboration with Oasap, they were kind enough to hook me up with this black and white stripped romper! I'm in love with piece and you can match it with just about anything. Check out this romper and more at their website here!

Healy inspired.

Happy Sunday! This month I've started to expand my taste in music. There's so many great artists out there, but one particular band that finally caught my eye was The1975. I've heard a few of their songs on the radio (Chocolate, Girls, etc) and I never really paid much attention to them until now. Not only do their skillful indie rock songs put me in a great mood, but their style is on point as well!
I took some Matty Healy inspired outfit pictures yesterday, wearing an all black sheer top, high-waist treggings, chelsea booties, trench coat, fedora, and rounded sunnies to top it off.

I know, I know. I'm a bit late to join the 1975 fandom, but it's better late than never, right? Here are a collection of outfits inspired by the wonderful Matty Healy (yes, I know he's the lead singer that everyone pays attention to, but how can you not admire his hair and style?). Have a great day everyone! xx-Nikka

Always in my heart, Zayn Malik.

March has always been a gloomy month for me. A perk of it is having spring break, but even when it's suppose to be spring, it's still snowing and cold in my area. Unfortunately, this one week break isn't starting off as planned. In fact, this week may be one of the most worst ones yet. As many of you know, Zayn Malik has decided to leave One Direction to focus on his own life away from the limelight. As devastating as this may seem, we must respect his decision and continue to support One Direction as much as we can. So, in honor of the amazing and outrageously talented Zayn Malik, I've created a collection of my favorite outfits Zayn has worn.
Thanks for the amazing five years, Zayn. We hope that little boy from Bradford smashes whatever he chooses to do next. Xx- Nikka

A simple life, they live in peace.

Happy Friday! This week went by so fast which was a tad stressful due to so many projects and tests I've had to take and finish!
Anyways, last weekend ABC Family aired a few Disney films on their channel. I was browsing for a TV show to watch while I wrote up my lab for school and came across the colorful classic movie, Tarzan. Now, usually I'm not the one to spend time watching Disney films, but I haven't seen the movie in so long so I decided to give it go.
I fell in love with it. Not with just the plot of the movie, but the music, the illustration, the colors, and the whole idea of living on an island for all your life. Wouldn't it be amazing to live on an undeveloped land area surrounded with thick trees, plants and brush, wild flowers and exotic fruit? There would be no stress, you could get up at whatever time you wanted, and have nothing to worry about. That's the life, honestly. I've never really been a complete fan of the tropical style (brown sandals, palm tree designs, leopard print), but now I can't stop creating inspired sets!
Here are some inspiration sets I've made over the past week. I'd like to think the jungle theme ties in well with my environmental systems class where we are learning about how to reduce the consumption of earth's natural resources and avoid using harmful pollutants like plastic water bottles and plastic bags. I hope my sets help inspire those of you who live in warmer areas :) Have a great weekend! xx-Nikka
