Rome-antique.

Happy Sunday, everyone! I'm so happy to finally publish one of my favorite outfits of the week post. In honor of Valentine's Day, I decided to create an outfit from one of my favorite romance movies: Roman Holiday.
Okay, yes. I actually just watched the film earlier this week, but I fell in love with it. Normally I'm never really interested in black and white films, but this one caught my attention right off the bat!
In this royalty-gone-rogue film, Ann (played by Audrey Hepburn) is a princess who runs away from her exhausting schedule during her European tour to find her own sense of freedom. She meets an American news reporter named Joe Bradley (played my Gregory Peck) who takes care of her when she becomes drowsy from a sedative and nearly falls asleep on a park bench. Together, they explore Rome, and even though Ann creates a series of lies to protect her identity, she is completely oblivious to the fact that Joe indeed knows she's the princess and his intention is to get an exclusive story from her for his news company (however that gets torn away when they both become romantically involved, ooo lalaaaa).

The fashion part of this movie was so brilliantly done. I was in love with everything! From her lace and sequin gowns of regal elegancy to her flowing maxi skirt, cream blouse, and lace up ballet flats that she wore throughout the entire movie. It was just all too gorgeous
My inspired look consisted of culottes, a white blouse, lace up brogues, and a simple neckerchief. I pulled my hair back and created a line of fake bangs (something I've been obsessed with doing if you've been following some of my other ootd posts). I really did try to replicate Audrey's hairstyle in the movie, and I think it turned out rather well!
Thanks to Roman Holiday, a few of my sets have been inspired by Princess Ann's sophisticated, style and playful maturity that she has throughout the movie.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the film!

And of course, here are a few of my inspired sets from Roman holiday, and just general outfits that I would definitely wear on a trip to Italy.
I hope everyone has a lovely Valentine's Day! Xx-Nikka
